EGYPTIAN SPINACH 2/23

Yes, Egyptian Spinach!...After doing some research on this I decided to find some seeds and give it a try. Some of the key factors about this variety of spinach..1) It's highly proliferate, and 2) It does well in the Az warm to hot weather. 3) It can be container grown. This variety of spinach is widely grown in Asian countries. It grows more like a vine than it does the spinach plants we're more often familiar with.

This variety of spinach can overtake ground garden space, so I'd recommend container growing it.

I started the germination process 2/23/17, with this variety, in both direct to soil sow a moist paper towel and then transfer successful seeds to the semi perm container. This plant will do well in potting soil and in 100% perlite or some combo of the two mediums

I had about a 90% seed germination rate after just 4 days and 100% after 5 days, using a moist paper towel.
Both the direct sow and pre germ in the moist towel yield the same results
I will keep you updated with how will they do with clipping starts.

UPDATE: 10 DAYS LATER 3/4/17:,  The seedlings are about 3" tall, and are still in my little bio dome. I will start to acclimate them to the outdoors when they reach about 4" tall, and do this for a couple of hours each day..for about a week, then they'll be permanently outside in green house.
